Anime 2D production is possible in Blender using the greasepencil tools. In this episode we´re going to do a walk through Blender 2.79 user interface to know how we can produce a highly stylized anime with Open Source software. This is going to be part 3 of the previous 2 tutorials where we learned what greasepencil is able to accomplish in 2D animation.
Anime production is possible in Blender
Darling in the Franxx´s last episode aired this week. I´ve also watched Violet Evergarden these last 3 weeks. I can only say the artwork and animation in both of the series are utterly splendid. How possible would it be if we port those concepts and develop something in the current Blender 2.79b version available to download? If you saw the news, this past week the Blender Foundation published “HERO” proof of concept with their animation created entirely on greasepencil. Check out the trailer>>
On the previous part 2 of these series of tutorials for the introduction to the greasepencil tool, we were working with version 2.8 and saw the future implementations for better tools, deformers and effects. But since Blender 2.79 is a stable release -as of now- we have even better features like pen-pressure sensitivity, rasterized viewport strokes, rigging and other cool tools like global layer “line thickness”.
I would like to recommend you to watch this tutorial closely as there are many things shown with a digital tablet and it´s shortcuts so creating 2D animation will feel natural on your digital tablet as a canvas on any other application.
This tutorial makes the intro for the famous “Pierre Schiller” name I´ve acquired through the years. Being a scientific nano-specialist on neural-photonics, his story is registered (C) for a future development. So here´s one preview on who he is. On this video he´s speaking about how cool Blender 2.8 will be.
I´d be more than glad to answer any questions you have regarding this tutorial and it´s workflow in Blender.
